PANTIN, A footbridge over the Canal de l'Ourcq
The installation of the Canal de l'Ourcq footbridge on the night of 21 to 22 January 2026 was a long-awaited milestone for this neighbourhood in Pantin. Its installation is part of a drive to open up and gently connect the two banks of the canal, as well as this changing neighbourhood to the rest of the city. Indeed, the Grandes-Serres de Pantin, which will soon house cultural spaces, restaurants and offices, is set to become a new and attractive urban hub.
The landscape and structure guided the design of this structure. Slightly offset to the west, the footbridge preserves the visual perspectives between the Mail Charles de Gaulle and the Rue du Cheval Blanc. Its "up-turned beam" structure limits its footprint and accentuates the impression of lightness. In addition to being resistant, the weathering steel (or "Corten" steel) of the structure blends into the landscape of the canal and the surrounding plane trees, creating a link between nature and urbanity.
This new footbridge marks the entrance to the Grandes-Serre district with its contemporary elegance and projects the desired image for Pantin's urban transformation.
