The European Investment Fund (EIF) is the specialized institution of the European Investment Bank Group. Its main shareholders are the EIB, the European Commission, and various public and private financial institutions. In close cooperation with other EU institutions, the EIF implements European policies in support of innovation, entrepreneurship, SMEs, and infrastructure financing. Rather than providing direct loans, the EIF acts as a catalyst by mobilizing capital through venture capital, growth capital, guarantees, securitisation, and infrastructure funds. Active mainly in Europe, the EIF contributes to growth, competitiveness, and employment while supporting the EU’s strategic priorities, including the digital, green, and energy transitions.
